Hooked on the Taste of Tradition!

Our

History

Many years ago, a young 6-year old boy, Mr Manny de Jesus stood on a Coke crate right beside his Mom Louisa and Dad Joe, where they managed their own Portuguese Take-away shop called National Café, based in Stellenbosch

Real, traditional family recipes and authentic cooking methods all the way from the Portuguese island of Madeira
was passed on from one generation to the next which eventually afforded Manny 36 successful years in the
fast-food industry.

Manny owned and single handily managed various shops across the Western Cape, until he decided in 2013 to move to the beautiful town of Langebaan and open Gateway Fisheries.

9 Years on, the business have grown from strength to strength and have become as legendary to Langebaan as is its breath-taking views, unspoilt nature and kind-hearted people.
